How it fits

Altra says its shoes generally run true to size in length, and width is true to size too.

Altra shoes have a roomier toe box than many running brands, thanks to their FootShape™ fit.

If you’re used to wearing casual sneakers, Altra suggests considering going up a half size or even a full size in their running shoes, to allow room for your feet to expand.

Fit check: standing, press your thumb on the front of the shoe — there should be about a thumb’s width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.

Between sizes

Between sizes? Size up if you wear thick socks or orthotics, or you're on your feet all day. Choose the smaller size if you like a snug, athletic fit.

Centimeters are Altra’s; inches are converted.

How to measure

Stand on a sheet of paper, with your weight on that foot.
Mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe.
Measure between the marks in inches or centimeters.
Measure both feet and use the longer one.
Measure later in the day, when feet are at their largest, wearing the socks you’ll wear with the shoes.
